The Four Legal Documents You Need in Your Service-Based Business

In my post about the financial tools I use to run my business, I mentioned that I have two real fears in life: not doing things correctly legally and not doing things correctly financially.

Well since we covered the financial piece last time, I thought today I could offer you the tools that help me feel confident when it comes to the legal aspects of my business. It might not seem urgent right now, but you definitely don’t want to wait until it does so I’ve found some amazing and affordable legal templates for you to use linked below!

1. LLC Operating Agreement

Gotta start with the basics. An Operating Agreement is exactly what it sounds like - a document that sets expectations for your business so you know how it’s supposed to be run and what to do when something changes. In your business, you don’t want to be caught in a ‘well now what?’ situation, so grab an Operating Agreement to expect the unexpected.

2. Coaching Client Contract

You have to have legally-binding contracts for your clients to sign - non-negotiable. Not only does it help protect you in your business, it also lets your clients know you mean business, builds confidence in your work, and sets expectations to protect your time and energy when working with clients. This is a MUST.

3. Independent Contractor Contract

Looking to hire an independent contractor? If you don’t need or can’t afford a full-time employee, independent contractors are a GREAT option…if you have a good contract. I love this contract because I can fill it out for the contractor I’m hiring so we can be up and moving ASAP plus it has an abbreviated NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), which you’re going to want in there for sure.

4. GDPR Compliant Terms & Conditions + Privacy Policy

If you have a website for your business, which you should, you need a GDPR compliant Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy page on it. You have to let visitors know what you’re doing or not doing with their information or you could be breaking the law, which is no bueno. Take 10 minutes to save yourself from getting into trouble online.

Need the works? We got you.

This is why I LOVE The Contract Shop. You can get all the legal documents you need in one simple bundle. It doesn’t get easier than this, and honestly this is the most affordable price I’ve seen for quality contracts and templates in seven years of owning a business.

Do yourself a favor, and get that peace of mind knowing you are legally a professional business woman.
