My Trip to The Biltmore for Christmas

kate gremillion travel

I know it’s cliché, but I love Christmas.

The minute after I finish my Thanksgiving meal I turn on my Michael Buble Christmas album and start hanging stockings. Too soon? I care not.

Thankfully my boyfriend, Cam, shares this love for Christmas so while he was on a business trip to Asheville, North Carolina I decided to tag along so I could see the Biltmore at Christmas time. The Biltmore Estate is the largest home in America. Yes, all of America. It has 250 rooms (DANG!) and was built by George Vanderbilt. It’s a sight to behold. The 8,000-acre estate has beautiful gardens, and the green house (as seen below) is to die for.

We decided to take the candlelight tour of the house and see the beautiful Christmas decorations and hear the musicians playing throughout the house. Nothing like 16 Christmas trees on one house to get you in the holiday spirit. The house is inspired by French Renaissance chateaus, which made me feel like I was back in Paris for a minute. Though we were told the tour would take about two hours (yes, two hours to walk through one house) we completed the tour in 45 minutes. #SpeedWalkingTourists It was topped off with a trip to The Confectionery to gawk at the delicious chocolates and a short walk through the gift shop.

It was the perfect trip for the holidays, and made me thankful that I have a business that allows me to take adventures like this in the middle of the week. Enjoy the collage below, and happy holidays!
